Why Beacon

A Montessori school in Weston, minutes from home

Beacon is a neighborhood Montessori school on Boston Post Road. Children work in a prepared classroom built for their age, choose their own work, and stay with it long enough to get good at it. Guides watch closely and step in when a child is ready for the next thing, which is how independence and focus grow.

  • Small, mixed-age classrooms where every child is known by name
  • An authentic Montessori curriculum for ages 15 months to 6 years
  • Trained guides who follow the child instead of a fixed daily script
  • Toddler and Primary classrooms on one campus, so a child can stay through kindergarten

New to Montessori? What our Weston preschool is like

If you are looking at preschools in Weston and are new to Montessori, here is the plain version. Beacon is a preschool and kindergarten for children 15 months – 6 years. Children come Monday through Friday for full days, 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM, with extended care until 5:00 PM.

A day balances hands-on work the child chooses with outdoor time, group lessons, snack and lunch, and room to move. What sets a Montessori preschool apart from a conventional one is that the room is set up for children to do real tasks on their own, and teachers guide rather than direct. Many families arrive wanting a good preschool and leave understanding why the Montessori version fits.

Weston is a residential town in Middlesex County, in the MetroWest area west of Boston. A Montessori toddler program in Weston

Beacon's Montessori Toddler program (15 months to 3 years) is right here in Weston, minutes from home. Classes stay small. The room is built for this age, so toddlers spend the day on small real jobs like pouring, dressing, and tidying up. That is how they learn to manage on their own.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Beacon Montessori. Since our son started here, he has become so much more independent and genuinely curious about the world—a direct result of this incredible team. What I appreciate most is the teachers’ mindset. In our conversations, it's clear they are constantly asking themselves how they can make the learning experience even better. Inna, the director, has been exemplary from the very first day we toured. Ms. Minoty is a wonderful primary teacher who has a real gift for kindling curiosity; whether it’s letters or practical life skills, she knows exactly how to motivate kids to try more. Our son also absolutely loves Ms. Caroline’s Spanish lessons, and the after-school programs like karate and chess make for a very well-rounded experience. The sense of community is also fantastic. They do a beautiful job involving families to share traditions like Diwali, Hanukkah, and Chinese New Year. Beacon might not be a 'big name' school, but they make up for it with total dedication and a laser-focus on nurturing kids. If you're looking for a place that prioritizes education, kindness, and caring for one another, we highly recommend starting your journey here.

We feel so grateful to be part of the Beacon Montessori community. The teachers truly focus on so much more than traditional learning, helping our son grow into a kind, empathetic, and thoughtful person. Every day, we see him building confidence, independence, and a genuine sense of care for others. It’s clear how much intention and heart goes into everything they do, and it means so much to know he’s in an environment that values not just what he learns, but who he is becoming.
